Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located? Do you travel?

I am located in Grand Island, NY and serve all of Buffalo, Niagara Falls, and Western New York. Although, I'm always looking to travel! Depending on the scope of the project, I may be willing to travel further with little or no fees.

How much do you charge? Do you have wedding packages?

Please use the “chat with Aaron” menu button for my wedding packages and portrait pricing information!

How do you approach a session or wedding?

I like to describe my approach as half documentary, and half artistic. Not every detail is planned out before a shoot because in my opinion, the best photos are always the spur-of-the-moment ones. When you reach out to me for a session, my first goal is to get to know what you are really like so I can showcase your natural self in my photographs through real-life moments and storytelling. Along the way, I'll also use lighting and creativity to create some edgier, artistic photographs–best of both worlds! No two sessions are the same–every client I work with is different, so I believe everyone deserves something different. I'm always down to explore a new location, find new ways to shoot old ones, while at the same time keeping an emphasis on realism.

Who is your ideal client?

My ideal client is someone who isn't afraid to be themselves, and want something beyond your typical “smile and cheese” photo, or Pinterest/Instagram trend. Let's go to your favorite park, go on a spontaneous adventure, stay in the comfort of your own home, or anywhere in between! Grant me the creative freedom to bring your story to life.

How many photos are included with sessions or weddings? Do we receive digitals and prints?

For every session or wedding, I’ll promise a minimum number of photos, but I’ll often deliver more. All digitals are delivered in a password-protected online gallery in web-resolution, unwatermarked, and ready to be used on social media or personal printing up to a 5x7. I do not “upsell” for extra digitals, so everything you see in the gallery will be available for download at no additional cost.

Any prints larger than 5x7 are strongly encouraged to be ordered directly from the gallery. I offer high-quality prints at very reasonable prices through Bay Photo Lab, often acknowledged as one of the best printing labs in the United States. You’ll receive full instructions on how to order prints with your gallery.

How many locations and outfit changes do I get?

I allow for as many as time allows for! I recommend a maximum of 3 outfits and 2 locations in the typical 90 minute period, but you’re free to add more.

Where will we go for our session or wedding photos?

I can suggest locations, or leave it up to you! If you have a special location in mind, we can go there. Although, I absolutely LOVE being granted the creative freedom to select locations for my clients. I always strive to offer every client something special and unique, so this often means exploring locations I’ve never been to before or finding new ways to shoot old ones.

We’re not comfortable in front of the camera and don’t know how to pose. How do you get everyone to look so natural?

First, understand that this is COMPLETELY NORMAL and I don’t expect anyone to feel 100% confident or know how to pose in front of the camera! I use a variety of techniques to help everyone feel comfortable and look natural. Sometimes this means giving prompts to get everyone to interact, sometimes more formal posing, but more often a combination of both.

My goal is always to capture the uniqueness of your personality, whether that depends on candid activities or more formal posing techniques. The only thing I try to avoid is the cheesy “stand here and smile” look.

How long do portrait sessions last?

My standard portrait sessions allow for up to 90 minutes of shooting time, but most typically wrap up after about an hour. For sessions with children, it's normal for them to be done after 20 minutes–but we'll make sure we capture everything we need in this time!

How long are galleries available to view for?

Galleries are available to view photos and purchase prints indefinitely.

What happens if I lose the password for my gallery?

If you lose the password for your gallery, simply send me a message and I can reset the password for you. There is NO additional fee for this!

Do we select the photos to be edited or is that done on your end?

I select and edit everything myself so you don't have to! Don't worry about missing out on extra photos–I try to provide a broad selection during my culling process.

Do you release unedited/raw files?

I do not release unedited/raw files because it would be a half finished product. Editing is the other 50% of how I achieve my signature aesthetic. Also, raw files are very large and not designed to be viewed without a special program.

How long does it take for photos to be delivered?

My turnaround time is FAST! For a typical portrait session, I try to turnaround photos in 3-7 days depending on the time of year. For weddings, you will always receive your photos in less than 3 weeks no matter the time of year. I also provide sneak peeks on Instagram and Facebook if you would like!

How much is your retainer fee?

There is a $50 non-refundable retainer fee for portrait sessions, and a $500 non-refundable retainer fee for weddings.

How do I pay you?

Payments can be made using Venmo, Zelle, Apple Pay, cash or check. I can also accept payments through PayPal, I just require that all PayPal service fees are covered. Payments for portrait sessions are due at the session, or for weddings, one week before your wedding day.

Do you offer studio sessions or backdrops?

Studio sessions and backdrops are not something that I offer or intend to in the future. My style and specialization focuses on capturing people in a natural environment. If you require a studio session, please reach out and I would be happy to recommend some fellow photographers of mine that specialize in studio photography!

Do you offer mini-sessions?

Mini-sessions are not something that I offer at this time. I like to offer everyone a full, unique experience rather than all in the same location on the same set.
